Statement on President Trump Responding to a Question Last Night Regarding the Firing of the World Trade Center Health Program Staff

Mr. President, we would suggest that you speak to your Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert Kennedy, and ask him why he is cutting the staff that run the program that provides care to over 140,000 9/11 responders and survivors, who are in every state and 434 of 435 Congressional districts.

BACKGROUND: 

Last night President Trump was asked about the firing of World Trade Center Health Program staff as he arrived at the White House. When asked about the firing of the staff he responded “I was the one that helped them in my first term,” referring to 9/11 responders and survivors, and he went on to say that “I am not aware of anything” regarding these firings.
