Micki Siegel de Hernández

Micki Siegel de Hernández, M.P.H., retired, served as National Deputy Director of Occupational Safety and Health for the Communications Workers of America (CWA), after previously serving as Health and Safety Director for CWA District 1 in the Northeast. CWA represents a diverse workforce across the public and private sectors, including thousands who were responders or survivors of the 9/11 disaster.
Micki has served as a responder and labor representative on the WTC Health Program Responder Steering Committee (RSC) since its inception, including all iterations of the program prior to passage of the James Zadroga Act. She was elected Chair of the committee in February 2018 and continued as Co-Chair when a second Co-Chair was added in 2024, serving until her retirement in 2026.
Micki was appointed to a two-year term on the WTC Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee beginning in 2017. She also served as labor co-chair and labor representative on the WTC Health Program Survivor Program Steering Committee (SSC), as a labor representative on the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene WTC Registry Labor Advisory Committee, and as the sole labor liaison on the EPA WTC Expert Technical Review Panel. In addition, she was labor co-chair of the WTC Community Labor Coalition, an advocacy group of labor and community activists working to secure government action on 9 11 contamination and related public health needs.
