What Bernie Sanders has said about supporting 9/11 responders and survivors
In the midst of that horrible crisis eleven years ago, we also learned – re-learned really – that the people of our country can come together. There were the courageous passengers on the flight that crashed in Pennsylvania who confronted the hijackers of a plane headed to the nation’s capital. There were firefighters and police officers in New York City and the Pentagon racing into the disaster, not away from it, in order to save lives. There were people who sacrificed their health in order to sift through the rubble for survivors.
This is a day to honor the memory of the lives lost on September 11, 2001, to pay our respects to America’s brave first responders, to salute volunteers in the war on terror, and to remember the American values and freedoms we all cherish.
